Universe Group is an AIM public quoted company that was established in January 2000 on the demerger of the Card Clear Group.
At the time of the demerger the group consisted of HTEC and Master Change. Master Change operated bureaux de change shops in Paris and was disposed of in 2007.
HTEC is an international supplier of electronic transaction and loyalty systems to the retail market with particular emphasis on petrol retailers.

HTEC celebrated 30 years of trading in 2010. Its core business in its early years was electronics manufacture for the communications industry. This early pedigree in communications underpins today’s business where the focus is data processing and reporting. Today HTEC is recognised for its “GET DATA SMART” approach to its markets.
HTEC Petrol Forecourt Services
HTEC’s main business is providing point of sale, payment and loyalty systems for oil and petrol retailers.
Over 33% of UK forecourts have HTEC hardware or software systems on them, two of the country’s hypermarkets run their petrol retailing using our systems. Major international oil companies use HTEC terminals and software platforms to process payments. Alongside the payment processing solutions we provide real time loyalty systems on an international basis.
We are proud to be industry leaders with the first unattended chip and pin transaction being processed through one of our terminals in 2005 and more recently with the first unmanned petrol station being run with HTEC systems. HTEC are true experts in payment card handling especially in the fuel card arena.
HTEC provide end to end solutions from in house manufactured secure payment devices through point of sale software to on line data processing from these systems in our state of the art data centre in Southampton.
HTEC Universe Data Services
HTEC’s UDS division processes over 150m ( £8bn) of payment transactions and in excess of 100m loyalty transactions each year through its accredited data centre. We hold a PCIDSS accreditation and are working towards ISO 27001 certification in 2011. Emphasis is on high speed secure data handling and management with expert data reporting and analysis. HTEC understand data collection in a real time environment and operate major systems allowing instant customer engagement with the retailer. HTEC help to extract the true value of a customer to the retailer and establish long term profitable relationships.

With 30 years’ experience in high integrity electronics manufacture, HTEC are the first choice partner to a number of renowned companies. Design and complete build solutions are offered from our state of the art 40,000 sq. ft.facility. We deliver high quality products to meet a variety of telecommunications and international standards including BABT, CSA and FCC.
