Universe Group plc (UNG.L) today makes the following announcement in respect of HTEC Limited, its principal operating subsidiary.
HTEC is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with an existing major oil company customer which will allow that customer to upgrade to the GemPAY terminal solution being developed by HTEC.
Due to be launched later in the year GemPAY will replace HTEC's successful Gemini EFT and Fuel Card product currently used at over 5,000 point of sale stations in the UK. In addition to processing all major Credit/Debit cards the terminal will handle industry fuel cards as well as new Chip and PIN fuel card variants expected to be introduced during 2011. Placing Chip and PIN capabilities on a fuel card will offer enhanced security benefits to high volume fuel users.
Commenting on the signing of the contract, Paul Cooper, CEO of Universe, said:
“We are delighted with the signing of this contract and furthermore in the interest which the launch of the Gem range of products has already generated in the market."
GemPAY is part of a suite of terminal products being launched by HTEC throughout 2011. The Gem range of products also includes:
GemFUEL is a new payment terminal designed specifically to meet the requirements of the fuel card market sector. The terminal accepts KeyFuels, UK Fuels, Arval PHH and other associated fuel cards and provides 8583 hosting and APACS 30/50 communication options. Included is a host of features including a powerful TMS (terminal management system) to support terminal configuration, event and software logging. Broadband and GPRS communications are supported and there is a useful fallback option to check a local stop list if online authorisation is not available.
GemPOINTS - A completely standalone Loyalty Terminal using smart card technology giving forecourts flexible auditing and optional administration functions. Supporting features such as multiple tariffs, automatic bonus periods for running happy hour promotions on hourly, daily or weekly basis customers can be given smartcards by the retailer, which are used to securely carry accrued points and current balances against fuel, carwash, servicing or MOT making it a practical option for the independent market and all other small stores where larger schemes are not available.
GemPAY Plus - Following GemPAY, GemPAY Plus will put EFT, Loyalty and Fuel Card acceptance on one convenient platform.
The Gem series will be fully PCI DSS approved and comply fully with Payment Card Industry Security Standards, the global forum which is responsible for the development, management, education, and awareness of the PCI Security Standards, including the Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), and PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements.
